Admissions
CHILD accepts applications for admission year-round on a space availability basis. The admission’s process typically takes four to six weeks. Limited financial aid is available (please see below).
The following steps are part of the admission process:

Family reviews information packet

Parent(s)/Guardian(s) complete and send back inquiry form as well as any IEP, evaluation, and assessment materials

Admissions Team reviews records (this step typically takes 2 weeks)

Parent tour

Student tour

Student half-day visit which includes participation in a classroom or structured activity

Student full-day visit which includes participation in a classroom or structured activity

Placement determination is made

Contract and registration completed

Determine start date

Financial Aid
A major consideration for families considering an independent school education is the cost of tuition. CHILD uses the School and Student Services (SSS) to assist us in determining each family’s financial aid need. SSS is used by many independent schools in the Puget Sound region and you can view a comprehensive list of helpful resources about financial aid and loan programs by visiting them at http://sss.nais.org/parents/index.cfm.
To begin the process of applying for financial aid, CHILD families need to complete a Parent Financial Statement (PFS) provided by SSS. Factors that help to determine a family’s financial need include taxable/nontaxable income, assets, medical or other expenses, family size, etc. The PFS estimates the amount what a family can contribute towards their child’s tuition and is useful in guiding CHILD in making financial aid awards.

The fee for completing the PFS online is $35, or if you prefer, $42 to apply by mail. Begin completing your PFS here.
