Manual Arts

/files/photos/kid photos/shop_Resized_193x236.jpgEvery student at Child and New Heights Schools eagerly looks forward to their twice weekly "Shop" class.  Under the direction of Jack Westerlund,  each student conceives, designs and creates amazing projects.  They have to figure out the sequence of steps from design to completion, learn to safely use the hand tools, and later power tools needed to make their creation, and see to the finishing process. Learning to follow directions and comply with safety rules are important elements that students master as part of the Industrial Arts Program.

Students have made bird houses, whirligigs, tables and chairs, wind chimes, garden planters and many other decorative and useful things to share with their families.  It's always a pleasure to visit the "shop" in action and see students busily creating!
